Ever since Mr. N launched his new blog and invited me to be a contributor, I have been obsessed with discovering why he named the blog "Alice's Restaurant." So, I have created a list of possible reasons for his choice of a name.
1. Mr. N used to flip burgers and take out the trash at a restaurant owned by a gal named Alice.
2. Alice's Restaurant has some hidden meaning in a counter culture.
3. Alice's Restaurant isn't really a restaurant at all.
4. If you know about Alice's Restaurant it can change your life.
5. You can get about anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
6. One dreary November day, Mr. N burned the turkey and had to eat Thanksgiving dinner at Alice's Restaurant.
7. Richard Nixon was convinced Alice's Restaurant was really owned by communist sympathizers.
8. Alice bailed Mr. N out of jail.
Alice's Restaurant...hmmm...I don't have a clue. Do you?

I'm voting for #8. But knowing Mr. Neuberger...there was probably some profound life-changing event at Alice's Restaurant over a plate of biscuits and gravy that led him make an altering decision and become a teacher.
And you're two short of 10...so...
#9 Alice was the name of Mr. Neuberger's first girlfriend and she won his heart with her chocolate chip cookies.
