The French words mean that she wants to know where her cat is. Which bothers the mouse due to his phobia of cats and dogs. And for the second question my opinion for the story essentially stands as ramblings of an intoxicated author, but if you want to pick it apart I suppose you could come to a judgment that the author intended for the poem, along with the previous ramblings of her to be a metaphor for a child’s attempt to mentally recite things that they have learned in previous times. From when she’s attempting to recite the capitols of states to attempting to recite stories and poems. It reminded me of a young child trying to show off their knowledge that was actually miniscule in reality and glorified in her mind and telling. In my opinion the poem is a signature of immature child’s play

now to point out my thoughts of the story adding up to the ramblings of an intoxicated author. To me the story essentially adds up to a fantastical dramatization of hallucinations, and furthermore a victim of over reading and attempts to draw more meaning than is necessarily intended. but for all intensive purposes meaning can be derived, in the same way that meaning could be falsely derived from the shaping of veins on an oak leaf. however i suppose i could be mistaken, and without knowing the rest of the story i cant really make a definite opinion.

lmao my point was that it sounded like a rambling or halucination rather than logical straitforword thinking, not literal intoxication but perhaps maybe just not a sound state of mind. or perhaps maybe he was under the influence. (opium was popular in the 1800's)

I think it is great how you go so in depth in every post you have, and all your answers make so much logical sense.
